J'ai passé une grande partie de mon enfance, avec ma famille, en Afrique de l'ouest, et j'ai toujours été fascinée par ces bébés qui dormaient en toute tranquillité, avec la bouche en coeur, sur le dos de leurs mères travailleuses. Qu'elles pilent, charrient du bois sur la tête pendant des heures, ou lavent, ou cuisinent, jamais ces enfants ne pleuraient et ils semblaient vraiment savourer un suprême repos.

'Mama' at Digital Whisper

I spent much of my childhood with my family in West Africa, and I’ve always been fascinated by those babies who slept peacefully, with their mouths curled into little hearts, on the backs of their hard-working mothers. Whether they were pounding grain, carrying wood on their heads for hours, washing, or cooking, these children never cried and seemed to be truly savouring a state of supreme rest.
